Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am
Location:
The Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area
We are pleased to announce the hiking event, taking place on Saturday, October 25! We invite everyone on a hike at Arabia Mountain, sharp from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Arabia Mountain, just like the bigger and better-known monadnock Stone Mountain, is an outcropping of granite bedrock famous for its otherworldly landscapes of vast barren rock and rare plant species. Dotted with small pools and shallow quarries, the Preserve also features a lake and wooded areas with trails. https://www.nps.gov/places/arabia-mountain-national-heritage-area.htm
Join Red Clay Sangha for a two-ish mile walk through woods and up the mountain (only 955 ft in elevation.) Once at the top, we’ll continue exploring along the top before settling in at a quiet and secluded spot where we will have a 40-minute seated meditation.
To take advantage of morning light and limited parking, we’ll meet at the trail parking lot at 8am. Our guide, Beth Lilly, has been photographing in this park for many years and will lead the group on this hike. Although the mountain is quite short it is steep and you should be able to hike 2-4 miles for this dharma outing.
Date: October 25, 8am – 11am
Limited to 12 participants
Each month, RCS is delighted to host cultural events that foster meaningful connections among members of our sangha and the wider community. These gatherings take place monthly on a Saturday afternoon and feature a variety of activities, including hiking, art, music, crafts, games, movies, and more. Our aim is to provide a relaxed setting where individuals can share their interests with others, while also building community. All are welcome.
After gathering in the space by 7:45AM, we will start the hike sharp at 8AM. We will pause for a brief period of meditation, followed by a break for a packed lunch. Familiarity with meditation practices and Buddhist traditions is not required. Bring a friend!
While registration is not required, it helps the organizers immensely for planning purposes.
Please bring a personal packed lunch, and perhaps a small amount of food to share with others.
There is no cost to attend this event.
Please contact Beth and Clay.
